Tomato Crop Recommendations

Keeping tomato plants well fertilised doesn’t have to be complicated, but it helps to know what the plants need at each stage of growth.

At the start of the growth cycle, tomatoes have quite slow nitrogen and potassium uptake, but this increases rapidly when they are flowering. Potassium uptake peaks during fruit development with nitrogen uptake mainly occurring after the formation of the first fruit. Phosphorous and secondary nutrients, calcium and magnesium are required at a relatively constant rate throughout the tomato plant’s life cycle.

Give your tomatoes the nutrients they need to thrive

To give your tomato plants the nutrients they need at each stage of the life cycle, we recommend that you apply NHCaDelta and 1-4-All fertilisers during the first true flowering and while the plants are growing their first shoots. While the plant is flowering and during fruit setting, you should also apply CalFlux. During fruit expansion, we recommend that you apply NHKDelta and 1-4-All, with further applications of CalFlux, NHKDelta and 1-4-All while the fruit ripens.

For further advice, please use the guides below for our recommendations:

  • Stronger plant growth for improved fungicide performance
  • Improved growth in saline conditions
  • Fewer calcium related disorders
  • Higher productive yield
  • Protection against daily stress
  • Improved root development
  • Low nitrogen losses to the environment
  • Higher productive yield
  • Growth habit improvement
  • Less ground water residues
  • Improved crop uniformity
